Industrial property protection in Türkiye, grounded in engineering
Protecting a brand, a product design or an invention in Türkiye takes more than filing forms. It takes an attorney who knows Turkish practice and can read the technology. Gözlem Marka Patent brings both together: a registered trademark and patent attorney who is also a mechanical engineer, with long experience preparing expert opinions in technical disputes.

DetailsApproach
Why an engineering perspective matters
Industrial property files are legal documents, but what they protect is usually a technical solution or the appearance of a product. The strength of a file depends on how accurately that technical content is understood and expressed.
As a mechanical engineer, the attorney reads drawings, mechanisms and manufacturing processes first-hand. The specification you file and the arguments you make rest on an accurate understanding of the technology itself, not on a second-hand translation of it.
Claims define the scope of protection.
Under Turkish law the claims set the limits of a patent (IP Code Art. 89). A small difference in wording changes the breadth of protection.
Prior art is a technical reading.
Assessing earlier documents requires reading mechanisms, functions and manufacturing methods.
Disputes turn on technical examination.
In infringement and invalidity cases, the outcome depends largely on technical analysis and expert reports.
Designs involve technical distinctions too.
Features of appearance dictated solely by technical function are not protected as designs (Art. 58).
Principles
How we work
Handled by the attorney
Each matter, from filing to opposition, is prepared and followed personally by the attorney.
Evidence-based advice
Our assessments rest on the legislation, Office and court practice, and the documents in the file.
Impartiality
No opinion is prepared for the opposing side in a matter where we support a party; no opinion is prepared for any party in a matter where we serve as court-appointed expert.
Clear communication
Steps, deadlines and risks are set out in writing at the start.
Türkiye
Why work with an experienced attorney in Türkiye
Türkiye is a major manufacturing base and a large consumer market, and Turkish companies are frequent partners, suppliers and competitors. Protection obtained locally, and technical judgment exercised locally, make the difference when a right has to be relied on.
Turkish procedure has its own rhythm
Two-month opposition windows, proof-of-use requests, appeals to the Re-examination and Evaluation Board and Turkish-language filing requirements leave little room for error. A local attorney tracks every deadline.
Technical evidence decides patent cases
Turkish IP courts rely heavily on court-appointed expert reports. A party expert opinion prepared by an engineer who is also a patent attorney is often what tests those reports effectively.
Due diligence on Turkish partners
Before a partnership, supply or licensing deal, we review the prospective partner's patents, utility models and designs: their scope, validity, ownership and any entries recorded in the register.
Freedom-to-operate before launch
Risk assessment against patents and utility models in force in Türkiye before you manufacture or sell locally.
National phase and validation
Turkish national phase of PCT applications and validation of European patents, including the Turkish translations.
Direct communication in English
You deal directly with the attorney. Correspondence, reports and opinions are in English; Turkish filings and translations are handled locally.
